• How much does an EV charger installation cost in Perth?

  It depends on your switchboard, the cable run length, and whether any upgrades are needed. A straightforward install with a switchboard that has spare capacity is the cheapest option. If your switchboard needs upgrading or there is a long cable run to the garage, costs go up. We provide free quotes so you know the full cost before anything starts.

• How long does an EV charger installation take?

  A simple install takes 2 to 4 hours. If your switchboard needs an upgrade or significant cabling is required, the job runs to a full day or more. We give you a clear timeframe when we quote.

• What brands do you install?

  We install Tesla Wall Connectors, Zappi, Schneider Electric, and Ocular chargers. If you have already purchased a charger, we are happy to install it as long as it meets Australian standards.

• Do I need to upgrade my switchboard for an EV charger?

  Sometimes. EV chargers need a dedicated circuit, which means available space and capacity at the switchboard. Older homes often have neither, so a switchboard upgrade may be required. We check this as part of every quote and include any upgrade work in the price upfront.

• Can I just charge my EV from a regular powerpoint?

  You can, but it is not a good idea for regular use. Charging is very slow, the circuit is not designed for sustained high loads, and you put unnecessary stress on your wiring. A dedicated EV charger is faster, safer, and built for daily charging.

• Can I use my solar to charge my EV?

  Yes. We can configure compatible smart chargers to prioritise excess solar over grid power, or schedule charging during peak solar hours. If you have a Zappi or similar, this is straightforward to set up during installation.

• Why do I need a licensed electrician for an EV charger install?

  EV chargers require dedicated circuits, switchboard work, and final compliance testing. All of that is licensed electrical work in WA. Using an unlicensed installer is a compliance issue and can void your home insurance. Every Leo Electrical technician holds the required Electrical Contractor Licence.
