The Right Air Conditioner Is Only
Half the Job
At LEO Electrical, we look at the whole job. We assess the space, how you use it and what the property allows, then recommend a practical installation. That includes planning outdoor-unit ventilation, service access, secure mounting and the appearance of exposed pipework.
Whether you’re adding air conditioning, replacing an ageing unit or investigating a fault, we’ll explain the options and what’s involved. Our team handles the electrical and air conditioning work, with testing and commissioning included in new installations.
What We Cover
New Split System Installation
Split System Replacement
Diagnostics & Repairs
Apartments & Difficult Locations
Brackets, Pipe Routes & Neat Finishes
Sized for Your Space
The right system depends on more than floor area. We consider glazing, insulation, orientation and how you use the room, then recommend a suitable capacity and brand. We work with the best brands to suit different applications, priorities and budgets.
Planned for a Neat Finish
Most people pick a fan on price or looks. We size for room dimensions, ceiling height, and how the space is used. A bedroom needs different airflow than a living area. Correct sizing makes more difference than brand.
One Team for the Complete Job
Unit locations, brackets, pipework and visible covers all form part of the finished job. We plan them together, with attention to drainage, ventilation, service access and appearance. From a straightforward installation to a longer service route, the details matter.

Split System Air Conditioning FAQs
What size split system do I need?
The right capacity depends on room size, ceiling height, glazing, insulation, orientation and how the space is used. We assess the application before recommending a system. If you’re replacing an existing unit, we’ll also check whether its capacity was appropriate rather than automatically choosing the same size.
What brands of split system air conditioners do you install?
Our main brands are Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Daikin, Hisense, Panasonic and Fujitsu. We recommend a system based on the room, required capacity, features, installation requirements and budget. Different properties and priorities suit different systems.
Do you supply the air conditioner as well as install it?
Yes. We can supply and install the complete system, so the equipment and installation are quoted together. We’ll help you choose a suitable unit and explain what’s included in the installation.
Can you install a split system I’ve already purchased?
We assess customer-supplied systems case by case. Send us the make, model and details of the proposed installation so we can confirm whether we can install it and what the job would involve.
Can you replace my existing split system?
Yes. We assess the existing system, electrical supply, pipework, drainage and mounting before quoting. A replacement also gives us an opportunity to review capacity and unit positioning. We’ll determine what can appropriately be reused and what needs changing.
Can you repair split system air conditioners?
Yes. We provide diagnostics and repairs for split systems. We investigate the fault first, explain the repair required and help you assess whether it’s worthwhile given the system’s age and condition.
My air conditioner isn’t cooling properly. Does it need replacing?
Not necessarily. Poor cooling can have several causes, and replacing the unit without diagnosing the problem can be an expensive guess. We can investigate the fault and recommend whether repair or replacement is the appropriate next step.
My air conditioner is leaking water. Can you fix it?
We can investigate and repair faults causing water leaks. Indoor-unit leaks can arise from drainage problems and other issues, so we diagnose the cause before recommending a repair. A leak doesn’t automatically mean the system needs replacing.
Can you install air conditioning in an apartment?
Potentially, yes. We need to consider outdoor-unit locations, balcony space, access, pipe routes and any building or strata requirements. Send us the property details and photos so we can assess what’s achievable and whether a site visit is needed.
Can the outdoor unit be mounted on a wall?
Yes, where the structure and location are suitable. We can use purpose-designed wall brackets when ground placement isn’t appropriate, while considering ventilation, access, drainage and the overall installation.
Can the outdoor unit go on the roof?
In suitable applications, yes. We assess the roof, mounting arrangement, installation access and future servicing needs, along with pipework and electrical routes, before recommending a roof-mounted outdoor unit.
Does the outdoor unit need to be directly behind the indoor unit?
No. A back-to-back installation is often the simplest arrangement, but other layouts are possible. We can plan longer pipework routes where the system specifications and property allow, including suitable paths for drainage and electrical services.
Can you hide the air conditioning pipes?
Visible refrigeration pipework, cables and drainage are normally contained within external covering. Where suitable, we can also provide Colorbond-colour-matched top-hat covering on request to help the exposed services blend with the property. We’ll discuss practical options when planning the installation.
Can you move an existing split system?
Potentially. We assess the system’s age, condition, refrigerant, existing installation and proposed new location. Relocation makes sense in some cases; in others, the work involved means replacement is worth considering. We’ll explain the options before you decide.
How long does a split system installation take?
It depends on the installation. A straightforward back-to-back system involves different work from an apartment installation, roof-mounted unit or longer service route. We’ll assess the scope and discuss the expected timeframe before booking.
Do split systems provide heating as well as cooling?
Many modern split systems are reverse-cycle units, meaning they can heat and cool the room. We’ll confirm the features of the particular system we recommend so you know what it can do before installation.
Should I repair or replace my old air conditioner?
We consider the fault, repair cost, age, condition and likely future reliability of the system. A minor fault on a sound unit may be worth repairing. Repeated failures or a major repair on an ageing unit may make replacement more sensible. Diagnosis comes first.
Do I need a dedicated electrical circuit for my split system?
That depends on the particular unit and your existing electrical installation. We assess the supply and protection requirements as part of planning the job, then explain any electrical work needed in the quote.
Do you service split system air conditioners?
We inspect, diagnose and repair split systems. If you’re looking for preventative maintenance or a specific deep-cleaning service, tell us what you need so we can confirm the appropriate scope.
Can you install multiple split systems at the same property?
Yes. Planning several systems together lets us consider outdoor-unit locations, electrical requirements and service routes across the property. We can assess the rooms and recommend an installation arrangement that works for the home or business as a whole.
